Nearly everyone is fascinated by dinosaurs, so you’ll find them in books, movies, tv shows, and more! Here are some ideas from popular dinosaur media:
Gertie
The 1914 short film Gertie the Dinosaur was the first animated film to feature a dinosaur. It’s very fitting for a dinosaur too, Gertrude means spear of strength.
Jurassic Park themed names
Let’s start at the beginning, with Jurassic Park author Michael Chrichton. His first or last name would make great stuffed dinosaur name, as do many of the other characters:
- Alan Grant, paleontologist
- Ellie Satler, paleobotanist
- John Hammond, billionaire and founder of InGen (their rival company is called Biosyn)
- Ian Malcolm, mathematician and chaos theorist
- Tim and Alexis, Hammond’s grandkids

- Rexy, the name for the T Rex featured in the books

- Doyle. Did you know that Crichton was inspired by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s book from 1912, called The Lost World? It also featured prehistoric creatures, hidden deep in the jungles of South America
Barney
Yep, we went there and brought up the famous purple dinosaur! Don’t forget his friends, Baby Bop the triceratops, BJ the protoceratops, and Riff the hadrosaur
Godzilla
Everyone’s favorite kaiju, also known as The King of Monsters! Some of its other names include Gigantis, Monster Zero-One, The God of Destruction, Dagon, Titanus Gojira, Primeval Champion, and Doom Inevitable.
And there’s also Rodan, Godzilla’s pteranodon counterpart if you have a winged dinosaur stuffie.
Arlo
Arlo comes from the Disney Pixar movie The Good Dinosaur. He’s a timid young apatosaurus.
