What is an All-in-One-Car Seat?

An all-in-on car seat is a transitional car seat designed to grow along with a child. They start as a rear-facing car seat suitable for infants and then transition into a forward-facing car seat and finally a booster seat. The best seats will have two booster seat options, eliminating the need to purchase two or three car seats for each child.

There are some advantages to purchasing an all-in-one car seat, including:

  • Affordability — Purchasing one seat that lasts for a decade is more affordable than purchasing an infant car seat, toddler car seat, and booster seat.
  • Convenience — It’s easier to learn how one convertible car seat works than it is to figure out two or three separate seats over the life of a child.
  • Time Saving — You’ll spend less time shopping when you purchase one seat that serves as four seats.

There are also some potential disadvantages to purchase an all-in-one car seat, including:

  • They’re often heavier and a bit larger than single-stage car seats. If you plan to travel on a plane, they’ll be difficult to bring along. Related post: Find out about the best FAA Approved Car Seats
  • Parents and caregivers with multiple children need to purchase a new seat for every child rather than handing infant and toddler seats down to younger siblings.

Separate seats may end up more expensive over the years, but they do allow you to perfectly match you baby’s height, weight, and developmental needs at all ages.

  1. Do either of these have a matching/fitting stroller? Which one would be best for disabled grandparents with mobility issues?

    1. Great questions. Unfortunately, both the Evenflo Everyfit and the Graco4ever are meant to stay in the car and don’t have matching/ fitting strollers.
Infant seats, like the Graco SnugRide 35 Lite LX and the Evenflo Litemax, are designed to be easily removed from the car and “snapped” into a stroller. They both weigh under 10 pounds and would be straightforward to use.

As far as mobility issues, here are some things to consider.
Will the grandparents be using a car or an SUV? The Graco 4ever is shorter than the Everyfit. If they have a car, the Graco is probably a better choice because there will be more room to maneuver the baby into the seat because the car seat takes up less room. However, if they have an SUV with larger doors they may have an easier time and not have to reach so far with the larger and taller Everyfit.
And the Graco has lower sides than the Everyfit, so it may be easier for grandparents to reach the child and the buckles.

You may want to visit a store like Buy Buy Baby or Target. They often have the car seats in the store for you to try out. In most cases, you can also return the car seat even after installing it in a vehicle to make sure it fits well and so on. Amazon will also let you return the seat if it is still in good condition.
